Coronavirus Update From Cody Pools

Covid-19 and Texas Freeze Has Led to Major Delays in Swimming Pool Construction Timelines

We want to thank you for your interest in Cody Pools to be your custom pool builder. While we look forward to building the pool of your dreams, we feel it important to share with you the important information below that has caused delays in building swimming for Texas pool builders.

You may be aware that the demand for new pools is at an unprecedented high. However, you may not be aware of the impact that COVID-19 had on the ability to source materials to construct new pools within a specific timeframe.

Construction Material & Equipment Delivery Delays
The pool building sector during the COVID-19 outbreak experienced a shortage of labor and materials. Lockdown orders and closures forced manufacturers to reduce their production or close completely for a time due to COVID-19. Once manufacturers were able to open, new safety mandates caused slower production times. The combination of shortages and slowdowns made it extremely difficult to obtain materials and supplies throughout 2020 and the first 3 months of 2021.

Record February Freeze in Texas
Add to that, the record-breaking freeze that Texas experienced in February damaged or destroyed over 600,000 pools. That event depleted the ready supply of pool equipment. As a result, we and other pool builders experienced production and delivery delays on PVC pipe and fittings, gunite, cement, pool equipment, and other materials that have increased construction schedule timelines.

Municipality and HOA Permitting Process
Plus, certain municipalities and HOA’s simply do not have enough staff to keep up with inspection and permit demands that are necessary for swimming pool construction. In some cases they are taking up to 2-3 months to process. These factors have all contributed to construction delays and the challenges associated with accurately predicting pool completion dates. What we do know is that construction is taking longer than expected.

Normalcy is Returning
While equipment/supply lines are quickly returning to normal, we feel it important to be proactive in letting potential customers know that the issues above will make it difficult to complete any new swimming pool for the next 6-7 months. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes right now and we appreciate your patience.

We sincerely hope you are still interested in having us build your new swimming pool. While it may take longer than usual, you can be confident that we will do everything possible to make sure your job is done properly. Simply fill out the form below and one of our Designers will contact you and get the process going.
