Water Transmission and COVID-19

Water Transmission and COVID-19

Cody Pools along with the rest of us are concerned about the continuing issues with the COVID-19 virus and the challenges it creates for all of us. Cody Pools is proactively monitoring the ongoing COVID-19 situation and will continue to adhere to the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the U.S. National Institute of Health (NIH). We are also following the procedures from federal, state, and local officials.

Cody Pools is taking all necessary pre-cautions to maintain a healthy workplace and have implemented extra measures for the safety of our employees and customers.

The pool and spa industry has received specific information regarding COVID-19 and water transmission. The CDC assured us that no evidence has been linked to the COVID-19 spreading through water. We are sharing the information we have received directly from Pebble Technology International and the CDC. Please see below and reference the links for additional information.

The following content was provided by one of our top vendors, Pebble Technology.

The CDC has released guidance on COVID-19 and water transmission, including information on recreational water transmission. We encourage you to share this information with your organizations and others who may have questions about COVID-19 spreading through water.

Specifically, the CDC guidance states:

“There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19.”

This guidance and other water-related guidance can be found at www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/water.html.  For more information about CDC’s recommendations for proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection of public pools, visit www.cdc.gov/healthywater/swimming/aquatics-professionals/operating-public-swimming-pools.html.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by this outbreak so far. We will continue to update you as any additional CDC guidance related to recreational water and COVID-19 becomes available.

Cody Pools Builds “Best Pool” Winner at 2018 Parade of Homes

The Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Austin recently held their 63rd Annual Parade of Homes. This annual event was held at Travisso in Leander Texas. During the event, 4 participating custom home builders received their 2018 Excellence Awards in a variety of categories.

Hill Country Artisan Homes won “Best in Show”. In addition, they were also was recognized for “Best Pool” which was built by Cody Pools. Sitting 23′ above ground the pool features a spa, firepit and covered outdoor kitchen. Further more, the pool also overlooks the spectacular hill Country view. Elevation of the pool required a superb level of engineering. For example, the pool shell contains 6′ wide spread footing with all #6 steel. The footing alone took 38 yards of concrete. The pool walls were built with double #6 steel on 10″ centers. Access to the pool area was too steep and narrow to use a conveyor to backfill. As a result, we had to bring 200+ yards of aggregate through the front door of the home, across the slab and then dumped it into the pool. Watch video here.
